There are a few different methods to install a ceiling hook to hang a plant from but this post is going to cover two of them.
Toggle bolts ceiling joist.
Install your bolt in the joist.
A toggle bolt uses a large collapsible nut to increase clamping pressure of the bolt.
As a kid i spent many hours lying on my bed and daydreaming while staring at the ceiling.
Toggle bolt anchors are the go to anchors for the heavier objects.
Don t let the words joist or toggle bolt worry you though both of these methods are very easy and require few tools.
A toggle bolt is used for lamping heavy objects to drywall or lath.
Anchor a heavy object to the ceiling with a toggle bolt.
And if you can use the ceiling joists and there won t be a need for anchors at all.
For items lighter than 5 lb 2 3 kg you can use an adhesive hook as an easy alternative.
The first method involves finding a joist and the second method uses a toggle bolt.
If you cannot use a joist to secure the heavy object the next method is to use a toggle bolt.
Check that the wings on the bolt can move easily along the thread of the bolt so you don t have difficulty installing it.
A joist is one of the beams that supports a ceiling.
Once again you will drill a hole and install the toggle bolt as in the first method.
It s the securest place to fasten a hook for heavy items so that you don t risk damaging the ceiling or the item.
If that doesn t convince you that i m qualified to pass on some ceiling advice then i don.
While this method would give you the most support it is the hardest to get right.
Keep in mind that these 2 wings will open up above the drywall or plaster distributing the weight of the object over a larger area.
